History

Our story began in the fall of 1996 when six individuals recognized that God had a plan for them - a plan to care for those less fortunate and hungry in our community.

Together, these individuals formed Compassion York, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization devoted to providing meals to the homeless, poor, and working poor of York every Sunday evening.

Today, 20 participating churches and groups work together to prepare and serve nearly 200 meals every Sunday of the year. Our meals are served at Grace Lutheran Church located on Jefferson Avenue and at St. Patrick Church on South Beaver Street in York.

As a Christian organization, we still believe that God has a plan for us and for the future of Compassion York, and He will provide for us so that we may continue to provide for those in need in our community.
